Despite growing protests in Hub 1, the new mayor candidate Aura has officially broken the Skyblock voting record today, gaining over 1.31 million votes. This surpasses Scorpius’s previous record of 1,306,734 votes, set in Year 336.
Staying on theme, I spoke today with Derailious, a well-known Skyblock YouTuber and one of Aura’s most outspoken supporters. When asked why the public should continue voting for Aura, Derailious said:
“The people should continue to vote for Aura due to the desire to change from the Status Quo. For too long Skyblockers have been subjugated by the Skyblock Elite, pushed down and kept under the boot of gatekeeping, of elitism, of capital. Aura promises freedom, prosperity, and growth for the common man. Why wouldn’t we want this?”
However, not all players are convinced by Derailious’s reasoning. Many accuse him of being bribed by Aura’s campaign, due to his earlier disclosure that Aura transferred a large sum of coins to Skyblock News, the media agency he founded and operates. YouTubers such as Candypat and the Aura Resistance group have been highly critical. In response, Derailious released a video accusing Candypat of being part of the “Skyblock Elite,” claiming he doesn’t want what’s best for the community. Candypat later responded, saying he “wants the best for the Skyblock community.”
I asked Derailious directly about the bribery allegations, and he stated:
“The members of the public accusing me of being bribed simply don’t understand how Mayoral Campaigns work. Any income moved from Aura to the Skyblock News Company is purely moved as a gesture of goodwill, and is an insignificant figure. The Skyblock News Company remains devoted to providing you the Truth.”
Derailious also commented on Aura’s perks — which many players argue resemble socialist or communist ideas. He defended them strongly:
“Aura’s ambitious perks are simply proof that prior mayors did not care for the common man. If all mayors had the capability of utilizing perks like these for the benefit of the players, and chose willingly not to utilize them, they chose to side with the Skyblock Elite against the People.”
While Skyblock News’s support for Aura continues to grow, Derailious remains eager to defend the integrity of his organization. He concluded our interview with:
“Remember. Trust Skyblock News with all things Skyblock, and vote Aura in Year 458.”
Although Derailious’s influence has played a major role in Aura’s success, one of the biggest contributing factors is simply the fact that Aura is a brand-new mayor. Many Skyblock players are desperate for change, especially with long-standing frustrations over “broken features” such as special mayors. In addition, the mystery surrounding Aura has drawn widespread curiosity. Some players have even voted for her knowingly, despite believing she may pose a threat - simply to “see what happens.” and it being “funny”
In Aura’s old laboratory - located in the Crimson Isle - new discoveries have raised concerns. References to Precursors have been found, including Automaton heads placed inside the lab, and what appears to be experimentation on Fairy Souls. Additionally, connections have surfaced between the Wizard and a potential breach in the Rift. It now seems increasingly possible that Aura’s “leaked” perks may be a mask for something far more sinister.
Protestors from the rapidly growing anti-Aura group, Aura Resistance, have organized a large protest scheduled to take place 45 minutes before Aura is elected. The group consists of frustrated miners angry about the removal of a potential full-perk Cole, capitalists who oppose Aura’s ideology, and pro-Dante cults. While protests have continued over the past 24 hours, they have remained smaller in scale.
