In a surprising turn of events, a newly introduced mayoral candidate, Aura, has appeared in the current Skyblock election cycle. Previously a little-known NPC residing in the Crimson Isles, Aura’s sudden entry into the Year 457–458 election has caused widespread confusion across the community. In-game, only three vague perks are listed:
However, Skyblock Elections uses the Hypixel API to display mayor data—and whether by accident or design, all six of Aura’s real perks are visible on the API. Players quickly noticed that several of these perks contain themes reminiscent of socialist or communist ideology.
However, very interestingl, Aura is not new. During early dialogue, Aura repeatedly referenced an “evil plan” they were working on, which many assumed was simply lore flavor at the time.
Now, with Aura directly referencing Dante in several campaign lines—such as “Under Dante, you worked for him. Under me, you’ll work for each other.” and “Dante made you obey. I’ll make you thrive.”—many players are beginning to speculate that Aura may be a “Dante V2.” Whether Aura intends to end democracy, or whether the leaked perks are genuine, remains uncertain. What is clear is that Skyblock is heading into a highly volatile political moment.
In response to Aura’s candidacy, pro-Dante and anti-Aura protests have erupted across several hub lobbies. I spoke with one protester, SoleoSFX, who explained their reasoning:
“Aura is fake. Aura misleads. They are vague, unjust, and unclear. Dante was clear, upfront, and concise,” SoleoSFX said. They argued that Dante’s campaign succeeded due to transparency, while Aura’s will succeed “due to misinformation.” The protester added, “The memory of Dante has inspired me to speak truth.”
Several players believe Dante-aligned guilds may be involved in organizing and amplifying these protests.
